My name is Sarah Eckhart, and I founded Integrative Trauma Recovery Coaching because I believe healing and change are possible when survivors are met with compassion, understanding, and the right support.
For more than 20 years, I have worked in healthcare, including as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner specializing in child abuse and neglect, as a leader in behavioral health, and as a nurse case manager, supporting individuals through collaborative person-centered strategies to facilitate meaningful and lasting change. I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Colorado in 2017 and have completed advanced certification to support survivors of complex interpersonal and relational trauma.
Throughout my career, I have supported children, families, and individuals affected by abuse, violence, and adversity. This work has given me a deep understanding of how trauma can shape the nervous system, relationships, emotions, identity, and overall well-being. I have also gained an experiential and intimate awareness of the most helpful and meaningful ways to partner with people who are working to overcome these challenges.
My passion for this work is deeply personal. My own life-long healing journey has taught me that recovery begins with rediscovering the strength and wisdom already within us. Others can walk alongside us, but to be truly successful, we must take responsibility for our own healing. That belief shapes the way I coach: with curiosity rather than judgment, collaboration rather than authority, and deep respect for each person’s unique path.

What Is Trauma Recovery Coaching?
Trauma recovery coaching is a collaborative, trauma-informed, strengths-based approach designed to support people who have experienced developmental, attachment, interpersonal, relational, or complex trauma. Unlike approaches that focus primarily on diagnosis or pathology, trauma recovery coaching focuses on understanding how past experiences may be affecting your life today and developing the awareness, skills, and resources needed to move forward. Coaching may help you better understand the effects of trauma on your nervous system, emotions, relationships, beliefs, identity, and patterns of responding to the world. Through education, reflective conversation, practical tools, and compassionate support, you can begin to recognize patterns that once helped you survive but may no longer serve you.
The coaching process can include nervous-system regulation, emotional awareness, mindfulness, self-compassion, boundary-setting, recognizing relationship patterns, identifying strengths and values, reconnecting with yourself, and creating meaningful, self-directed goals. At Integrative Trauma Recovery Coaching, the process is client-centered and collaborative. You remain the expert on your own life and direct the course of your recovery. My role is to provide education, guidance, reflective questioning, practical tools, resources, accountability, and a safe, supportive space as you build greater self-awareness, resilience, confidence, and connection with yourself and others.
Trauma recovery coaching is not psychotherapy, counseling, psychiatric treatment, medical care, diagnosis, psychological evaluation, medication management, or crisis intervention. When a client's needs fall outside the scope of coaching, appropriate professional support or referral may be recommended. Ultimately, trauma recovery coaching is not about defining you by what happened to you. It is about helping you understand how your experiences have shaped you, reconnect with your strengths and inner wisdom, and recognize the meaning within your experiences so you can create a life that reflects who you are and who you are becoming.
